Remedy Internal Medicine - 2 Years & Counting

On 9/7/2023, we marked Remedy Internal Medicine’s 2-year anniversary.  As we grow, it is inevitable that we change, but I believe we are keeping our mission in focus.  Our mission is to provide exceptional primary care for patients desiring a more personalized relationship with their medical team.  Building strong relationships with our patients and providing continuity of care helps us to feel fulfilled and we also believe that it leads to better care.

In health care, there are few things as important as trust.  We hope that you can trust that we will care for you to our best ability.  When we advise testing or therapies or advise against them, we hope you know that it comes from a sincere desire for you to live a longer and happier life.  Medicine is certainly as much of an art as a science and we also appreciate the understanding that medicine evolves and we are evolving with it so we may not have every answer. We are perfecting our craft while also keeping our focus on the person in front of us.  You are unique and beautiful and it is our job to use our collective experience and training to apply our knowledge to your situation.

As generalists, we love the breadth of medicine.  We love getting to fit the puzzle pieces together and to keep the whole picture in view.  At Remedy Internal Medicine, the age of our patients ranges from 20-97 years old (median age 64yo) and we enjoy caring for patients in the various stages of their lives.  Our patient panel is 75% female and 25% male, which fits with published studies of gender preferences in primary care based on gender of provider.  Our patients have various reasons for seeking us out and we have enjoyed learning about the paths that have brought patients to us.

I find the direct primary care model to be more sustainable for me as I look ahead in my career.  In the traditional system, it was difficult for me to provide “OK” care instead of exceptional care even if it meant that I was helping more people.  When you work hard and feel like you are never enough, that can lead to burnout. But with Remedy, we work hard and we think our patients notice the difference in care.  Life gets busy, but we are doing our best to care for ourselves so that we can take better care of our patients.  You may occasionally see us with a medical student or a resident and I hope we pass along to them that there are options to care for patients in different ways that is beneficial for both physicians and patients.  Thank you for being part of Remedy Internal Medicine and we look forward to many more years ahead.
